SARFOJIRAJE BHOSALE B.N.T. & R. CENTRE

Sarfojiraje Bhosale B. N. T. & R. Centre was established in 1993 by Dr. Sandhya Purecha as an NGO for the preservation, promotion and propagation of Indian classical dance through cultural-pedagogical-social training and dissemination through performance and research.

The centre was established in memory of one of the greatest exponents of classical arts, dance and music, Raja Sarfoji, the former ruler of the Tanjavur State in Tamil Nadu. Late Guru Acharya Parvatikumar, has done extensive research on the work of Sarfojiraje Bhosale. For the past 27 years the centre has been working tirelessly towards training students in dance theory, practical, performance, research and creating a niche for them in related fields of dance.

The centre is affiliated to the Kavikulaguru Kalidasa Sanskrit University, Ramtek, Nagpur imparts dance education through its two main institutes; Kala Paricchaya for beginners and Bharata College of Fine Arts & Culture for aspirants.

Activities of the Centre:

  • Indian classical and folk dance training, research, performance and pedagogy;

  • Promotion of Indian arts by organising workshops and seminars, annual dance festivals and paper presentations through the campaign SOCH - Save Our Cultural Heritage;

  • Philanthropic works by adopting and training free of charge several BMC school and economically backward students in Indian classical and folk dances training them for national-level scholarships, examinations and performances;

  • Sarfojiraje Bhosale Centre's Publication House - To publish valuable books on Indian art, culture, education and ancient languages like Sanskrit
